People like myself

Growing up in Zambia with an Australian mother and Zambian father, I have grappled with questions surrounding my identity and sense of belonging. My upbringing was diverse, as I spent my formative years in Zambia before moving to Denmark at 18, and later settling in Australia, where I lived for 27 years, raising my family in Perth. Seven years ago, I relocated to the Netherlands, marking my residence on three continents. Despite my international experiences, the inquiries into my identity and sense of belonging have persisted.

To confront these questions and explore the themes they evoke, I created Tasila Culture, a performance program that delves into my personal journey. Through this endeavor, I found solace in crafting a home within my heart—a sanctuary where I am unconditionally accepted, free from the scrutiny of others. This introspective journey spanned two decades, leading me to unearth my authentic self.

My experiences as a biracial woman navigating dual identities inform my approach when working with clients who share similar struggles. These shared experiences foster a deep understanding without the need for extensive explanation. Together, we navigate conversations about overworking and the challenges of finding spaces that fully accommodate our identities. Empowered by mutual understanding, we delve to the core of issues, embracing and reframing them as needed.

While my self-actualization program is designed for everyone, my personal encounters with race and belonging fuel my commitment to unveiling every aspect of my clients with compassion and respect. I cherish diversity and encourage clients to embrace their unique selves fully. This inclusivity extends to the BIPOC community, as my space prioritizes safety and acceptance for all.

Through Tasila Culture, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including detainees, fostering safe and healing environments for them to share their stories. These experiences have reinforced a universal truth: regardless of background, we all seek acceptance, love, and a sense of belonging. Ultimately, our shared humanity transcends differences in color, gender, or religion.

I wholeheartedly invite you to embark on your journey of self-discovery, self-acceptance, and self-actualization.
